No one can deny the benefits that exercising provides both in our physical and mental health, and this is why it is important to keep it in our weekly routine, if not daily. Countless studies have proven how exercise benefits the body even as we age. Regular physical activities can improve physical and mental health can slow down the progression of any illnesses like dementia.

When you have veterans in the family, the more they need it, although there is home care for veterans that provide them these activities and care, it is also important they start it with themselves.

As we or our loved ones age, there is a risk when it comes to balance and coordination, and this leads to frequent falls as they lose strength and flexibility. This can be difficult as this increases dependence on help even doing simple tasks. Exercising in the early years of life can effectively improve flexibility, bone, and muscle strength, as well as balance and coordination.  

2.Improve the Mental Health 

There are several mental benefits that exercising provides to our body and these include the production of the hormone called endorphins that make us feel good. This hormone lowers the cortisol or the stress hormone, improves our mood, and improves our sleep. All of these make a positive impact on our body promoting good overall health.  

3.A Good Way to Engage Socially 

As we age, we become more susceptible to depression and falling sad. Engaging in fun activities that are also beneficial to our body and mind is very effective and helpful to maintain good disposition, reducing the chances of falling into depression and lacking a sense of purpose. There are many things to do like going into fitness classes, join walking groups, or visit gardening clubs; exercising does not have to be in solitude. Find a group where you are comfortable with and an exercise routine that you like and it will never have to be tedious and boring anymore.  

4.Prevents Diseases and Serious Illnesses 

One of the great advantages of exercise is you will have physical benefits. It can effectively prevent common diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and improve your immune system functions. In addition, simple regular walking is effective in preventing diseases and illnesses.

There are several illnesses you can develop as you age, such as dementia, which is characterized by impairment in communication, focus, memory, and judgment. Doing exercise can effectively improve cognitive functions like memory, focus, and others that greatly benefit someone for the years to come. This slows down the progression of dementia if not prevents it.
